CODE OF CONDUCT / INTERNAL RULES AND REGULATIONS

A: MANAGING BOARD.

  1. 1.The PINNACLE shall open every morning from Mondays to Fridays at 7:30 am and close in the afternoon at 1:00 pm for Nursery and 2:30 pm For Primary except on Public Holidays.
  1. 2. No Child shall be allowed to leave the school before official closing time without the authorization of management and/or the Coordinator.
  1. 3. Children shall appear in school acceptably clean, in their correct uniforms.
  2. 4. All the children shall dress in black shoes and white socks every day.
  3. 5. All the pupils shall tuck in their shirts and button up their shirts at all moments.
  4. 6. All the boys shall have a low cut while the girls are allowed to plate but the hair style without mesh should not be kept on for more than 1 week.

Pre-registration

  1. 7. Pupils are not allowed to wear jewelry in School.
  2. 8. Any school book or property destroyed or lost by a pupil shall be replaced by the family.
  3. 9. Collective movement (into and out of class, Marching) shall be in an Orderly manner.
  4. 10. All children upon arrival in the morning shall stay in their various classes and only go out during Assembly Time.
  1. 11. During break all the children shall sit and eat in their classes before going out for relaxation.
  2. 12. All the children waiting after 2.30 pm shall all sit in waiting room.
  3. 13. All the Requirements of the Pupils (Textbooks, Uniforms, bags, exercise books) shall bear the names of the children clearly written on them.

PUPILS’ CONDUCT

PUPILS ARE FORBIDDEN TO:

- Write on the walls, benches or floor.

-  Write on the board without the authorization of the teacher.

-  Go out of class without the permission of the class teacher/without an Exit Card.

-  Bring the following to school; knives, toy guns, pins, catapults or in general, dangerous objects that may cause injury.

-  Bring pornographic magazines or films of any nature to class or school.

-  Play with a ruler, pen or pencils or carrying them into their mouths.

-  Push and pull, hit or pinch their mates.  

-   Run roughly or get into rough play like running at full speed, throwing stones, etc that may likely cause accidents.

-  Take home a book, a pen or a snack box that does not belong to him/her.           

-  Destroy the flowers in the school campus.

Talk in French while in school except during French Lessons and at home.

    Rules and regulations binding the teaching staff

    All applicants who are competent educators and enthusiastically support the vision and mission of the school will be considered candidates for employment. If employed, every teacher shall be expected to read through the rules and regulations binding the staff of PINNACLE and shall sign an undertaking promising to abide by the rules and regulations as follows:

        • Staff must demonstrated committed ability to work well with colleagues to build a good Community
        • After 7.30 am, a teacher shall be considered as being late at his/her duty post
        • Every teacher shall, in addition to teaching responsibilities be assigned to a duty shift. Teachers on duty shall be at the gate by 07h00 to welcome children and keep them in their classes until assembly time. After school, they shall stay till 3.00 pm when all the children MUST have been picked up
        • Every teacher shall be professionally up to date. Lessons notes shall be written weekly and necessary preparations of teaching aids made well ahead of time. Lessons notes shall be checked / corrected every Friday by the head teacher
        • Pedagogically corporal punishment is prohibited. Therefore, no teacher shall inflict corporal punishment on a child except on special recommendation from the head teacher, where light punishment will be given to the pupil (s). Such punishment administered shall be registered in the School punishment book (black book)
        • The teacher shall be a model, an example worth emulating by the children. The teacher shall thus be conscious of his or her dressing and language used both among his or her colleagues and with the pupils. No booboos, wrappers, kebab, trousers will be accepted from female teachers. Flamboyant outfits, torn or dirty jeans, t-shirts or slippers are not proper outfit for teachers. The dressing code should be casual and simple. All male teachers must dress in a shirt and tie every day.
        • Emotionally, children are younger adults and they share the same feelings as adults do. Methods of teaching, utterances and interactions that will damage the self esteem of a child should be avoided. Teachers are NOT supposed to use words like: ‘you fool’, ‘with your empty head’, ‘shame on you’, ‘shut up’ etc. These disturb the child’s psychologically and affect his/her academic performance negatively. Teachers should use words like ‘ that’s better please try again’, ‘well done’, good boy/ girl’, ‘great job’ etc to encourage the pupils
        • All children are special and shall be treated equally. No child shall be treated specially or maltreated by staff. Conversation between children and teachers during class must be restricted to pedagogy
        • No employee of PINNACLE School is supposed to carryout any engagement on behalf of the School without the authorization of the School Management
        • Teachers are expected to work hand in hand with parents in the interest of the children. They shall therefore be welcoming and striving to inform interested parents about the progress of their child/children
        • Morning assembly and devotion are the concern of every teacher although led by the teacher on duty
        • Teachers may, on their own conduct home classes but this practice shall not interfere with the activities of the school. School materials shall in no way be used for such private means. Such classes must not be carried out in the school premises
        • No teacher is expected to teach at home, a child who is directly under him/her in School as this may affect their relationship in school. Most teachers from experience turn to favor such children whom they teach at home
        • Staff meetings and PT meetings are compulsory school activities and planned after school
        • The teacher shall be prepared at all times for inspection from either the head teacher, the School’s Pedagogic Inspector, members of the Standard Committee, Management, or from any other government authority
        • The secrets of the institution shall remain within the institution and no teacher shall give out any school document or information without due authorization from the School authorities
        • Teachers have a monthly salary but they understand that they are paid daily. As such, unjustified absences will be reflected on their pay packages
        • The employee shall be entitled to sick leave with a pay up to a maximum of 02 working days a month subject to confirmation by a certified medical doctor. Cases of continuous illness may only indicate a teacher’s inability to continue work with the school
        • All teachers are entitled to 1 day permission with payment a month if his/her application is granted. Apart from this, any other absences shall be reflected on your pay package. No two applications will be granted within the same month
        • A teacher shall be accountable for all material and equipment signed out to him/her during the school year
        • Lateness and absenteeism are offences that carry very severe sanctions
        • Female teachers who are pregnant are entitled to 4 weeks maternity leave, irrespective of the period of the year
        • Staff members are NOT permitted to sell food or drinks in the school premises
        • Consumption, possession or being under the influence of alcohol or drugs while on duty is forbidden in the School premises. Failure to respect this, the staff contract of employment will be terminated without payment of any kind
